If you’re looking and this and asking yourself how best to spend your snack credits on your next trip then look no further! If on the other hand you are looking at this and are unsure what a snack credit is, then allow me to explain!
For Disney World regulars you’ll know of the Disney Dining plan and how prior to Covid-19 it was a highlight to most Disney Package holidays, especially for UK visitors. It was often where a deal would be had where you could purchase your holiday package of a hotel and park tickets with free quick service dining or an upgraded full dining plan, after Covid occurred though this sadly went on hiatus. Fast forward to the last 12 months, Disney have finally re launched the dining plan and whilst it isn’t quite what it used to be, it is still back and still worth getting your hands on if you can! For those that are unfamiliar with this, Disney have re launched their Dining Packages meaning when you stay on Disney Property you can pay for their plan which allows you to get meals and snacks and drinks included in your stay (With a one off payment). Below is a breakdown of the two dining plans. If you are also planning a visit in 2025 they are currently offering the dining plan for free when you book online with them and stay at one of their resorts. I’ll do a separate post on whether the dining plan is worth it or not and which ones I would personally recommend!

As part of the dining plan packages you get Snack Credits. If you’ve been around the parks and resorts recently or even over the last year, you may have noticed this little purple symbol next to a select few items on the menus.

Many moons ago the snack credit plans were quite limited but still had a vast enough choice that they were easily redeemable at most stores including using them in gift shops on the tasty Disney treats. Fast forward to today and we were quite shocked to see just how many places they can be redeemed at and the value of them as well. Prior to Covid the typical snack would cover around $6-$8 but now it seems as though some are worth a lot more, especially at the food booths around the World Showcase in Epcot where we saw some snack credits on items worth $12.
The main goal of this post is to assist you in spending your snack credits and not waste them. Of course these are just my opinions and whilst some may seem like a waste to one , may not seem like it to another, so of course it is entirely up to you but this post is aimed at those wishing to utilise them to the best of their value!

An example above was the food menu from Disney’s Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios. You can see a Mickey Pretzel and Cheese dip has the snack credit symbol beside it and the value is $7.49. Personally this makes for a much wiser option to use your credit on rather than a drink as this could essentially fill you up enough where you wouldn’t need to use your dining credit (This would be plenty for a dinnertime snack if you wanted to eat more using your dining credit at lunchtime!). In addition to this Bear Mousse Cake from The Wilderness Lodge Resort for $7.99. You can get a large amount of food for just a snack credit!
One of my biggest pieces of advice that I will give, and one that I often try to drum into the heads of my friends when they visit the parks, is to not buy bottles of water. It is such a waste of money. The average bottle of water is $4. Even if you bought just one of them a day for 7 days, that’s nearly $30 wasted; you could buy another meal for that.
My best tip is to buy yourself a reusable bottle, a collapsible one is a great option too as they don’t take up much space. If you’re like me and are not a fan of the Floridian water from the fountains then I highly recommend visiting a café such as Starbucks and asking for a large cup of iced water. It is absolutely free and you can then have that and save not only your money, but , if you have them, your snack credit too. If you’re visiting Disney Resorts it is also quite common for them to have free water taps available for guests and non-guests too.
If you’re also lucky enough to visit during the Food and Wine festival or the Flower and Garden festival, I highly recommend checking out the food booths around the World Showcase because there are lots of options available there also. A personal favourite of mine, which always seems to be a fan favourite and a regular is the fruit sushi from Japan, which is also….A SNACK CREDIT!

Snack credits can be found anywhere in the parks and resorts and I recommend looking high and low for them because everyone has different tastes. You can spend them on pretzels, cakes, drinks, ice creams , you name it. I would personally go for the higher value one’s or one’s that are more likely to fill you up like the cakes and pretzels rather than the mickey ice cream bars, purely because it gives you the opportunity to go all out at a sit down meal or quick service meal without worrying about spending more than 1 of those credits a day. We often used to use a snack credit at lunchtime to cover our hunger midday and then use the quick service dining or sit down for dinner without the worry of being too full for it.
Disney Food Blog made a great list of the snacks of 2024 and I highly recommend you check it out, it can be found here
What are your favourite treats to spend your snacks on ? Any recommendations?
