Liberty Tree Tavern, found in the heart of Liberty Square in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, offers a family-style all you care to eat dining experience. Themed around rich American history with wood lined walls and fireplaces decking the homey-style rooms, each section pays homage to various pivotal historical figures, creating both a historical and warm atmosphere for all to enjoy.

The restaurant offers a home cooked meal approach to their menu which for me is perfect as I am a lover of hearty home cooked foods such as your roast dinners and belly warming pot roasts! I was really excited to eat here after viewing their menu mostly because the thought of unlimited Thanksgiving style food just ticks all the right boxes straight off the bat, but as well as this, it is right in the centre of the Magic Kingdom park.
We’ve dined at restaurants within the theme parks before and have never really been disappointed and I am surprised we hadn’t eaten here prior to this occasion as it seems like a beacon of attraction for any roast dinner-loving British tourist.
In my previous review of Sebastian’s Bistro (review here), I compared the pricing of the two in terms of value for money. I mentioned that whilst Liberty is slightly pricier than Sebastian’s, it does offer a slightly nicer range of food in my opinion, which might cater to more tastes. Another reason for the higher pricing would also be down to the fact that it is inside the park.

For both lunch and dinner the prices stay the same as does the menu. At $42 per adult and $23 per child I’d say this is up there with the slightly higher priced restaurants in Disney but for an all you can eat restaurant, it is pretty good value. To compare to some of the other restaurants within Magic Kingdom it comes in at a mid range price, when you look at the Skipper Canteen with main meals costing upwards of $28 , to Be Our Guest costing $70 for an adult and $41 for a child. Similarly to Sebastian’s, Liberty has a set menu offering a starter, main and dessert with the option to order second’s, thirds or even fourth’s of your favourite items.
For starter the offering of mixed greens and some buttery dinner rolls were nice; followed by the patriot’s platter which had a variety of roasted turkey, pot roast and vegtables with mashed potatoes and stuffing. I particularly enjoyed the side of mac and cheese to go with it as well; it’s not often you have it with a roast dinner in the UK so it was a great addition to have. The quality of the food was brilliant and highly recommend visitors try the stuffing!

The turkey and pot roast were delicious and really catered to our whole party, the home-style cooking was really incredible and the range of vegetables paired nicely with it all. The addition of gravy in a separate pot was much appreciated by us all as we all like a different amount, so you can essentially build your own perfect roast dinner at the table without having to leave behind any stragglers on your plate. Again, as this is an ‘all you care to eat’ theme, you can order in as many mashed potatoes and turkey as you desire! There is a plant-based option for those with different dietary requirements.

The dessert was a winner for us all. We are pudding people. We love a good dessert and their ooey gooey toffee cake is delicious. It’s warm and addictive and whilst that temptation of a second portion is there, don’t overload yourself, especially if you’re planning on heading on a ride or two! There’s plenty for everyone and it may look small in the photo’s but trust me , there’s enough. I compared the Sebastian’s dessert to a favourite of mine, the bread pudding at Ohana’s but I might even say that this takes a close second place of my favourites, if not joint first.

Moving onto the overall atmosphere and the theming of the restaurant, as mentioned above it has a historical American theme throughout and certainly feels very homey. We did find the table spacing to be slightly on the cramped side but we were sat close to two large parties so that may have been the reason; we would have to go again to see if this changes. It felt a little loud at times but the waitresses and waiters were so friendly and welcoming that it didn’t actually bother us that much. We loved the entrance section of the restaurant as it had a huge waiting area in front of a fire place (don’t worry, it isn’t lit; I’m sure the Floridian heat is enough for guests!), and cute rocking chairs and benches for guests to sit whilst they’re waiting to be seated.
Overall for the price of the food and the fantastic location I’d say this is a must visit for any home-style cooking lover. It is perfect for all ages and if if you plan to stay for dinner, the fireworks would be a great addition to finish the day off perfectly!
